My name is Molly. I am interested in culture, music, design, and art. I study media (how very vague), and sometimes I make movies. I love learning about typography, memorizing rap lyrics, and traveling to new places. I also write/blog/etc. on some of these things at http://mollykalan.tumblr.com
I chose to use the term midatlantic because it seemed slightly ambiguous, and one with multiple meanings. I am from the mid-atlantic region of the United States: I was born in Virginia, grew up in New Jersey, and went to school in Pennsylvania, and now New York. But I also felt like the term midatlantic could mean more than that. To literally be mid-atlantic would mean you are in the middle of the ocean, surrounded by water. That midatlantic feeling is one of being alone in something unfathomably bigger than you. Beneath the surface of the ocean, though, there is so much more going on. Sometimes I feel like I’m continually forgetting to look below me, and get stuck with that midatlantic feeling. Sometimes melancholic, other times nostalgic, always midatlantic.
